Anne Bradstreet (1612-1672)

LOVE

holding hands

"To My Dear and Loving Husband"
by Anne Bradstreet
Webtext prepared by Ann Woodlief
If ever two were one, then surely we.
If ever man were loved by wife, then thee;
If ever wife was happy in a man,
Compare with me, ye women, if you can.
I prize thy love more than whole mines of gold
Or all the riches that the East doth hold.
My love is such that rivers cannot quench,
Nor ought but love from thee, give recompense.
Thy love is such I can no way repay,
The heavens reward thee manifold, I pray.
Then while we live, in love let's so persevere
That when we live no more, we may live ever

Reflection:
This woman love is all she has, she loves her husband so much. She uses lines that you would be like that was deep "Or all the riches that the East doth hold." (Bradstreet).Thats shows that there love is what other lack. There love is her world and she wouldnt care if she didnt have anything else.

Dear Diary,
ahh, i just love my husband so much, im here for him anytime he needs me, I stand by him with everything. If he need me im right there. I just love him so much. And he loves me too, i need him and he needs me too. I have his back on any decison he makes, through the ups and downs im here.
